So I don't know how I feel about FIST FIGHT yet. I mean, I love me some Charlie Day (who doesn't enjoy ALWAYS SUNNY?), and I think Ice Cube is great when utilized well. I even love the rest of the cast, like Tracy Morgan and Kumail Nanjiani. It's just the concept seems…light. But I've been wrong before, and I'll definitely give it a shot if the reviews are good enough.
The studio might be feeling some ambivalence, as it just released four new clips to whet our appetite for the hilarity to ensue. Let's take a look:
Honestly, it seems like Jillian Bell is going to be the breakout star from this. Day is just channeling the "nebbish loser white guy who has to believe in himself" role these comedies always seem to have, and Ice Cube is simply doing his "scary black man" schtick from the '90s; however Bell is the only one who really made me laugh in all four clips (though the Mariachi band bit with Dean Norris was inspired). I might just see it for her, to be frank.
Either way, FIST FIGHT will start swinging February 17th, 2017.
