Fox 2000 has picked up the rights to DEMON KEEPER, a young adult novel from prosecutor-by-day/writer-by-night Royce Buckingham. The story focuses on a Seattle teen who inherits a house filled with mischievous demons. The youth has to keep his charges in the house and thwart the Thin Man, a creepy character who wants to free and exploit them for evil purposes.
The property was discovered when a 2004 script draft made it as a Nicholl Fellowship semi-finalist. In reference to the acquisition, co-producer Ken Atchity had the following to say – “Royce not only has written a story with a distinctly different theory of demons, he’s created a multimedia franchise with ‘Harry Potter’ potential.”
Gotta admire the ambition if nothing else.
