Francis Ford Coppola’s Twixt to be released on DVD this July

I have heard that Francis Ford Coppola’s TWIXT is awful in an “I can’t believe my eyes” sort of way (read our review from 2011 here, but I’ve always been curious about it, in part because of Coppola’s bizarre San Diego Comic-Con panel promoting the ambitious (and foolhardy) original plans he had for the film. And also, c’mon, it’s Coppola; the man must still have it in him, right?

Whether or not it’s worth watching, TWIXT will finally see a stateside release this summer; 20th Century Fox is distributing the film on Blu-ray and DVD on July 30th. Though parts of the film were meant to be seen in 3D, it’s looking like the release will only feature a 2D version. Other special features haven’t been announced yet; hopefully they’ll include that weird Comic-Con panel, just for fun.

A writer with a declining career, who arrives in a small town as part of his book tour and gets caught up in a murder mystery involving a young girl. That night in a dream, he is approached by a mysterious young ghost named V. He’s unsure of her connection to the murder in the town, but is grateful for the story being handed to him. Ultimately he is led to the truth of the story, surprised to find that the ending has more to do with his own life than he could ever have anticipated.

Val Kilmer, Elle Fanning, Bruce Dern, Ben Chaplin, Tom Waits and Joanne Whalley star. Watch the international trailer for the movie below.
