Something that’s been rumbling around these here interwebs the past few days is the news that AMC’s upcoming television series “The Walking Dead” was already greenlit for a second season. Word had it the second season’s 13 episodes would start shooting in February 2011. Now you’ve heard about this shite right? Of course you have. And the thing is that’s actually very believable because the buzz for “The Walking Dead” has been pretty insane. Apparently this is not the case though…

The man himself Frank Darabont recently chatted it up with the guys at Ain’t It Cool News, where the director hit us with the following:

“Shooting in February? As tired as I am right now getting season one through post, I’d rather shoot myself.”

The filmmaker admits that all this hoop-la is just a rumor and that no deal for a second season of “The Walking Dead” is in place just yet… Though I’m going to go ahead and assume this one will indeed score a second season, along with plenty more!

“The Walking Dead” revolves around an epidemic of apocalyptic proportions has swept the globe, causing the dead to rise and feed on the living. In a matter of months, society has crumbled: There is no government, no grocery stores, no mail delivery, no cable TV. Rick Grimes finds himself one of the few survivors in this terrifying future. A couple months ago he was a small town cop who had never fired a shot and only ever saw one dead body. Separated from his family, he must now sort through all the death and confusion to try and find his wife and son. In a world ruled by the dead, we are forced to finally begin living.

The series stars Andrew Lincoln, Jon Bernthal, Michael Rooker, Jeffrey DeMunn, Laurie Holden (below), Steven Yeun and Sarah Wayne Callies. “The Walking Dead” Season 1 will span six episodes and kicks off on October 31st, only on AMC!
