Frankenstein, starring Daniel Radcliffe, gets pushed to 2015

Looks like any hope of having both new DRACULA and FRANKENSTEIN movies for Halloween 2014 has been squashed. 20th Century Fox just moved director Paul McGuigan and writer Max Landis’ modern retelling of the FRANKENSTEIN story from October 17, 2014 to January 16, 2015.

No reason has been given for the move, although Fox recently shuffled a few things around. One possibility is that they wanted to avoid being the second FRANKENSTEIN movie in one year, as Lionsgate’s I, FRANKENSTEIN comes out January 17, 2014. They also may have wanted to distance themselves from Universal’s DRACULA UNTOLD, starring Luke Evans, which hits theaters on October 2, 2014. Were they worried about Classic Monster fatigue?

Whatever the case, we’ve now got over a year to see the film, which stars Daniel Radcliffe, James McAvoy and Jessica Brown Findlay. Stay tuned for more details on the plot, which is mostly a mystery. (Aside from what we all know about Mary Shelley’s classic tale.)
