I’m a big fan of when movie franchises reference one another. A great example would be FREDDY VS JASON. I was really looking forward to FREDDY VS JASON, ask anyone that knows me and they’ll tell you I couldn’t stop talking about it up until it’s release. While FREDDY VS JASON wasn’t the greatest horror movie ever, I definitely dug it a lot. I was hoping it’d feel more like a FRIDAY THE 13TH flick than a NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET movie, but the end product wasn’t bad at all.
What am I getting at? Well being a fan of the film, I couldn’t wait to start hearing about the inevitable sequel news. Well we’ve been hearing about that news for 5 years now… but at least we have stuff to tide us over! I’m talking about the ARMY OF DARKNESS comic series and it’s FREDDY VS JASON VS ASH mini-series. Now I didn’t even know this was out yet and plan on picking up the paperback with all the issues as soon as possible, but I’m going to go ahead and assume these comics were pretty good. Good enough to warrent a sequel?
Damn skippy! Newsarama caught up with ARMY OF DARKNESS writer Mike Raicht recently, who dropped word that a FREDDY VS JASON VS ASH 2 is in the works. He mentioned how ARMY OF DARKNESS co-writer James Kuhoric will be starting work on F V J V A 2 soon. Good deal!
So what do you think? Anyone out there check out this mini-series? Is it worth a sequel? I’m guessing this news is pretty sweet, but news on a film sequel would be pretty damn cool too… here’s to another 5 years of waiting.
