Writer Jeff Buhler has been a busy guy. He adapted and wrote the screenplay for Clive Barker’s upcoming MIDNIGHT MEAT TRAIN (more on that flick HERE), wrote and directed the upcoming INSANITARIUM, and is currently writing his next project TO HELL WITHIN.
He recently had a chance to chat with Fangoria about the flick, and gave up some tasty morsels for us to chew on. So what’s it gonna be about, you ask? Check it: THE HELL WITHIN follows a career-driven New Yorker named Maria who’s beginning to feel like she has missed the window to have children. She and her husband David have been trying for years [to conceive], but stress from work and aging seem to have taken their toll. Maria’s quickly approaching a serious emotional meltdown when one day the phone rings—it’s a little girl calling, and she sounds like she’s in trouble. In an effort to find out who this girl is and hopefully help her, Maria and David decide to fly to Brazil, the origin of the haunting phone calls, but what they find there is much more than they bargained for.
Buhler then goes to say that HELL is a cross between ROSEMARY’S BABY and DEAD RINGERS – which are a couple of pretty crazy movies to try and combine! Wow!
The project has me intrigued enough to keep a close on it, as kids on the phone are especially creepy, and since this whole thing revolves around that creepiness… you know you’ll at least be in for a good creep-out or two.
