I was surprised by how much I liked the teaser for D.J. Caruso’s I AM NUMBER FOUR and now I find myself surprised still, with the release of this full-length trailer, that the movie actually looks kind of cool to me. Yes, the high school stuff can promptly go f*ck itself as it’s more TWILIGHT-inspired nonsense, but I’m quite digging everything with the alien hunters and the pyrotechnics they’re bringing. Call me nostalgic, but I’ve always been a fan of movies where intergalactic bounty hunters arrive on earth to blow shit up, and this is recalling (a little bit) those flicks of yore. Of course it’s all got the glossy sheen of a Michael Bay production, but what can you do..?

An extraordinary young man, John Smith, is a fugitive on the run from ruthless enemies sent to destroy him. Changing his identity, moving from town to town with his guardian Henri, John is always the new kid with no ties to his past. In the small Ohio town he now calls home, John encounters unexpected, life-changing events — his first love, powerful new abilities and a connection to the others who share his incredible destiny.

I AM NUMBER FOUR stars Alex Pettyfer, Teresa Palmer, Dianna Agron, Kevin Durand and Timothy Olyphant; it hits theaters on FEBRUARY 18th.
