Furiosa: Official plot synopsis teases a great biker horde, a young Immortan Joe, and more

Grab your silver spray paint and prepare to be witnessed because the official plot synopsis for Furiosa has hit the road. Production for the hotly-anticipated origin story recently began with little information about the story other than the film focuses on the early days of Imperator Furiosa, a character played by Charlize Theron in 2015’s Mad Max: Fury Road. Anya Taylor-Joy stars a Furiosa in the new film, with Chris Hemsworth and Tom Burke starring as key cast members. Today, further details about George Miller’s Furiosa film have emerged, and it sounds like fans are in for one hell of a ride.

Miller previously stated that Furiosa is a “saga” that “happens over many years.” Additionally, new plot details reveal we’ll be seeing the future imperator’s time in the Green Place before she’s ejected into the Wasteland, where she meets a warlord named Dementus, who rules over “a great Biker Horde.”

The new plot details confirm that Furiosa will feature a younger Immortan Joe, played by the late Hugh Keays-Byrne in Fury Road.

“As the world fell, young Furiosa is snatched from the Green Place of Many Mothers and falls into the hands of a great Biker Horde led by the Warlord Dementus,” the plot description reads. “Sweeping through the Wasteland they come across the Citadel presided over by the Immortan Joe. While the two Tyrants war for dominance, Furiosa must survive many trials as she puts together the means to find her way home.”

While his role has yet to be revealed, many hope to see Hemsworth play the young Immortan Joe. Should this be the case, it would be an intriguing role for the actor, who typically plays the part of the heroic stud muffin. Think about a chiseled Hemsworth ruling over a wasteland with an iron fist and gasoline pumping through his veins. That’s something I’d like to see.

Meanwhile, Burke was cast as a replacement for Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, who exited the project due to scheduling conflicts.

Furiosa will be directed and co-written by George Miller with Nico Lathouris. The film is currently in production, so expect details to hit the gas as filming continues.
