Gal Gadot is on Bill Condon’s Bride of Frankenstein wish list

Two days ago, we shared quotes that director Bill Condon provided about his Dark Universe BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN reboot while he was in pre-production on the project in London. At that time, filming was scheduled to begin on February 1, 2018 – and since the actress Universal has been hoping to cast as the Bride, Angelina Jolie, is going to start working on a sequel to MALEFICENT in the first quarter of 2018, it looked like there would be a scheduling conflict there.

A lot can change in 48 hours. Production on BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN has been delayed while Condon and screenwriter David Koepp continue working on the script, which means that MALEFICENT conflict shouldn't be an issue with Jolie any longer. However, since there is no deal in place with Jolie, there is a chance that she'll choose not to be involved with BRIDE regardless of when filming begins.

If Jolie doesn't want to or can't be the Bride, Condon already has another actress in mind for the role: the DCEU's Wonder Woman, Gal Gadot.

Condon and Gadot both had massive box office hits this year: the director's BEAUTY AND THE BEAST made more than $1.2 billion at the global box office, with Gadot's WONDER WOMAN ending up with more than $820 million. Them working together on BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN would be quite a match-up of director and star.

But before anyone gets cast as the Bride, Condon and Koepp need to get that script into shape, and Universal needs to decide when they want to switch that green light back on.

BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN had been scheduled to be released on February 14, 2019. It's not going to make that date. Javier Bardem is attached to play Frankenstein's Monster, but there is a chance the delay could mess with that plan.
