There are few horror movies made for kids that I’ve actually sat down and watched… and enjoyed. Most treat the audience like idiots, and most importantly- they’re not scary. But that isn’t to say that the concepts behind the films aren’t good- it’s the execution, and the fact that they’re made for kids, which do them in.
reports this morning that DreamWorks has picked up the screen rights to the children’s book CAMP CREEPY TIME, which was written by hottie Gina Gershon and her brother, Dann. The story revolves around a young boy at summer camp who discovers that the haunt is little more than an alien-run smuggling operation. And the camp counselors are turning children into monsters, and shipping them off to zoos on planets around the solar system.
Great concept, but can they pull it off? No word on whether it’ll be live action or animation, though if it was a cartoon, methinks they could rock it like MONSTER HOUSE, and produce something that will be worth watching by
