Based on the ‘90s comic book, Preacher follows Jesse Custer (Dominic Cooper) a conflicted Preacher in a small Texas town who is inhabited by a mysterious entity that allows him to develop a highly unconventional power. Jesse, his ex-girlfriend, Tulip (Ruth Negga), and an Irish vampire named Cassidy (Joseph Gilgun) embark on a journey to, literally, find God. The following featurette gives us are largest look yet at the upcoming show with a breakdown of each major character.

Coming from someone who's not familiar with the comic, Preacher looks like it could have some interesting stories to tell. I'm not completely sold on what I've seen so far, but Seth Rogen has done pretty well in crafting some solid comedic cinema. Whether or not any of that translates to bringing a comic book to the television medium remains to be seen, but I'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt.

Preacher'rs first episode will air on AMC on May 22nd.
