AMC has officially renewed Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire for a fourth season, but the renewal comes with another major evolution for the acclaimed vampire drama. After rebranding the series as The Vampire Lestat for its third season to reflect the shifting focus of Anne Rice’s Vampire Chronicles source material, AMC announced during its Comic-Con International Hall H panel that season 4 will be titled Anne Rice’s Queen of the Damned. The new season will adapt one of Rice’s most popular novels as the story turns to the rise of the ancient vampire queen, Akasha.
The announcement came during The Vampire Lestat Hall H panel, where executive producers Mark Johnson and Hannah Moscovitch were joined by cast members Jacob Anderson, Assad Zaman, Eric Bogosian, and Sheila Atim. AMC also confirmed that Moscovitch will serve as showrunner and executive producer on Queen of the Damned alongside executive producers Mark Johnson and Rolin Jones.
Moscovitch has been a key creative force behind the series since its early days, writing for the first two seasons of Interview with the Vampire before becoming an executive producer on The Vampire Lestat. She also penned the episodes centered on Akasha and Gabriella, making her a natural choice to lead the franchise’s next chapter.

Why is Interview with the Vampire changing its name?
While the television series began by adapting Interview with the Vampire, AMC has always planned to explore the larger world of Anne Rice’s Vampire Chronicles. Season 3 shifted the spotlight to the novel The Vampire Lestat, and season 4 continues that evolution by adapting Queen of the Damned, making the title change a natural progression for the franchise rather than a reboot or a separate series.
What happens in Queen of the Damned?
Season three follows Lestat as he embarks on a multi-city concert tour while being haunted by figures from his rebellious past. As his fame grows, so does his influence over both vampires and humans, fueling the “Great Conversion,” an unnatural surge in the vampire population. Those events culminate in the awakening of Akasha, portrayed by Sheila Atim, setting the stage for the conflict that will drive Queen of the Damned.
The cast of The Vampire Lestat includes Sam Reid, Jacob Anderson, Assad Zaman, Eric Bogosian, Sheila Atim, Delainey Hayles, and Jennifer Ehle. The series is executive produced by Mark Johnson, creator and showrunner Rolin Jones, Hannah Moscovitch, Christopher Rice, and the late Anne Rice.
