On September 13th, Wild Eye Releasing will be giving a DVD and Digital HD release to a film that looks like it's going to be a whole lot of goofy, colorfully-lit fun, the horror/comedy THE NEON DEAD.

Marking the feature directorial debut of visual effects artist Torey Haas, THE NEON DEAD has the following synopsis:

An unemployed recent college grad hires two freelance paranormal exterminators to combat a monster infestation in her new home. But their prodding into the new evil unleashes an ancient demon and his army of undead creatures, intent to possess any human they make contact with. A non-stop, colorful explosion of horror and action – reminiscent of 'monster-busting' classics like The Evil Dead, Ghostbusters and The Monster Squad.

Marie Barker, Mark Ashworth, Greg Garrison, Dylan Schettina, Nathan DeRussy, and Candace Mabry star.

That plot description appeals to me, and judging by the trailer, which can be seen below, Haas has brought the story to the screen in a way that makes it pure eye candy.

If THE NEON DEAD looks as awesome to you as it does to me, you might want to pick up a copy of the DVD from Amazon. Bonus features include

a feature-length commentary with director Torey Haas, bonus scenes, two monster shorts (First Date, Troll Picnic) by director Torey Haas, and a creature profile.
