The teaser trailer for James Wan’s THE CONJURING plays things just right: instead of a standard clip montage, it sinks us directly into one of the film’s prolonged spooky sequences. In fact, it’s the very same scene that was shown last year at NY Comic-Con, the one that had everyone in the joint laughing and screaming their heads off. This is going to be a very good time.

Starring Vera Farmiga, Patrick Wilson, Ron Livingston and Lili Taylor, THE CONJURING opens on JULY 19th and goes like this:

Before there was Amityville, there was Harrisville. Based on a true story, “The Conjuring” tells the horrifying tale of how world-renowned paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren were called upon to help a family terrorized by a dark presence in a secluded farmhouse. Forced to confront a powerful demonic entity, the Warrens find themselves caught in the most terrifying case of their lives.

In case you’re wondering about that release date (horror movies usually don’t fare very well in the summer), the film is positioned to hit home video right around Halloween. And if this doesn’t look like a Halloween movie, I don’t know what does.
