Get swept away by Avalanche Sharks on June 30th

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Brace yourselves; there's another ridiculous shark attack movie on the way, and this one will be reaching screens about a month before SHARKNADO 3 hits Syfy.

MarVista Digital Entertainment is set to release AVALANCHE SHARKS onto Digital HD and On Demand June 30th, making the film available on Amazon, Google Play, iTunes, Vimeo, VUDU, and through AT&T and DirecTV.

The film's synopsis:

Bikini Snow Day is the busiest day of the year at Mammoth Mountain, and the resort is packed with wild co-eds looking for a good time. When an unexpected avalanche rumbles down the mountain, it awakens ancient spirits in the form of massive sharks with a taste for human flesh. As the body count begins to pile up, the local sheriff must form an unlikely alliance with a motley crew of locals and tourists in order to kill off the terrifying creatures before it’s too late.

Sure, makes sense. Spirits on a snowy mountainside would take the form of sharks, it's the obvious choice.

Director Scott Wheeler has plenty of experience working on films like this, having served as visual effects supervisor/producer on such "nature run amok" offerings as MEGA SHARK VS. GIANT OCTOPUS, MEGA PIRANHA, and SAND SHARKS.

AVALANCHE SHARKS stars Alexander Mendeluk, Kate Nauta, Benjamin Easterday, Eric Scott Woods, and Kelle Cantwell.

I feel like the campy shark movie sub-genre is starting to lose a bit of its charm, but with the SHARKNADO movies being such massive successes for Syfy there's no sign of it slowing down any time soon. The concepts get more absurd, and I keep on watching, as do millions of others. AVALANCHE SHARKS? Bring it on.
