After suffering a very serious accident on the set of MAZE RUNNER: THE DEATH CURE which led to production being shut down, it's nice to see that Dylan O'Brien is now fully recovered and ready to get back to business. Production on the final MAZE RUNNER flick will pick back up in February but before it does, O'Brien will take on the lead role in Michael Cuesta's AMERICAN ASSASSIN and we've got our first look at the actor in character as Mitch Rapp.
It's not much, but as production has only just begun in Europe, I suspect we'll be seeing more before too long. Based Vince Flynn's best-selling book series, CBS Films is hoping the AMERICAN ASSASSIN will become a franchise based around Dylan O'Brien. AMERICAN ASSASSIN also stars Michael Keaton, Taylor Kitsch, Sanaa Lathan and Shiva Negar.

AMERICAN ASSASSIN follows the rise of Mitch Rapp (Dylan O’Brien) a CIA black ops recruit under the instruction of Cold War veteran Stan Hurley (Michael Keaton). The pair is then enlisted by CIA Deputy Director Irene Kennedy (Sanaa Lathan) to investigate a wave of apparently random attacks on both military and civilian targets. Together the three discover a pattern in the violence leading them to a joint mission with a lethal Turkish agent (Shiva Negar) to stop a mysterious operative (Taylor Kitsch) intent on starting a World War in the Middle East.
AMERICAN ASSASSIN does not yet have a release date, but it's expected to hit theaters in 2017.
