Gettin’ in Deep

Got word from Wicked Dreams Entertainment the other day about a new project they just began production on – THE DEEPENING. Here’s the concept:

THE DEEPENING follows a troubled New York fireman (played by Ted Alderman) who is suffering from post traumatic stress disorder after working the tragic events of 9-11. Leaving New York and joining a small fire department in an uneventful country town, Ted tries to escape his nightmares and recover under the treatment of Doctor Chambers (played by Gunnar Hansen) along with the help of Ted’s friend Jim (played by Jim O’Rear). Soon, Ted’s nightmares somehow transform and become reality, bringing terror and a high body count to the backwoods town.

The flick aims to be an exploitive slasher entry, which I whole-heartedly support. They are taking a risk with the 9-11 subject matter, but I imagine they considered that at the start. Perhaps no less controversial will be the casting of Gunnar Hansen as a doctor.

And did I mention Debbie Rochon is also in this puppy? Check her out along with the rest of the cast over at the Official Site. It’s a bit thin on content right now, but should bulk up as production moves along.
