Uh-oh. Sony has moved comic book adaptation GHOST RIDER from it’s plum July 14, 2006 date to President’s Day weekend in ’07. That’s not a helluva a lot of confidence to exhibit in a $120 million flick. One has to wonder if the extra time is for fixing the character effects which have not met with widespread approval at first look (remember THE HULK anyone?).
Anyway, this is an easy no comment for Sony, but creates a massive headache for Marvel Studios which must now completely re-schedule the ancillary roll out plan. Doesn’t make sense to have your complete set of GHOST RIDER cups from Burger King 8 months before the f*cker actually rides.
My main disappointment with the news, though, is that I hate to hear about anything that delays seeing Eva Mendes on the big screen.
