Ghostbusters 3 in ’10?

Talk about a third GHOSTBUSTERS is as allusive and skeptical as talk for a fourth SCREAM, or a second GOONIES. There’s been so much talk about how there ‘might’ be a third GHOSTBUSTERS soon enough, then someone else will be quoted saying that it’ll ‘never’ happen. And so on and so forth. Today is one of those GHOSTBUSTERS 3 days.

A reader over at AICN reported in that apparently, while at an opening of a House of Blues in Boston, Dan Aykroyd answered some questions in a Q&A, and had this to say when asked about whether we could expect a GHOSTBUSTERS 3 anytime soon.

Script is commenced early summer. Hope to be in production by late fall 2009.

Ah, the ambiguousness of it all! So there may be a script, and if the script rocks, it may go into production by the end of the year, with a presumably 2010 release? Sounds good to me!

My guess is they’ll have all the old Ghostbusters (and I mean that literally, all those dudes are now hella old now) passing the torch to a new team of Ghostbusters, you know, for a new generation. And if that’s the case, then, well… god help us all. Formula’s like that generally don’t work well… but you never know! Like I said, it’s all speculation at this point! And will probably be speculation for many years to come. Maybe when SCREAM 4 is made, they’ll get around to GHOSTBUSTERS 3.
