Ghostbusters: Afterlife teaser features Paul Rudd, Stay Puft Man

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Original Ghostbusters (watch it HERE) and Ghostbusters II (watch that one HERE) stars Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Sigourney Weaver, and Annie Potts all have roles in director Jason Reitman's upcoming sequel Ghostbusters: Afterlife – and they might not be the only familiar faces we'll see in the new film. Reitman took to social media to share a short Afterlife teaser, which features the return of the Stay Puft marshmallow man! The living marshmallow just isn't used in quite the same way as it was in the first Ghostbusters; in fact, the way Stay Puft is used here reminded me of a sequence in Army of Darkness. Check out the teaser in the embed above.

This "mini-Puft" version of Stay Puft is joined in the teaser by Paul Rudd, who plays teacher Mr. Grooberson in the film. I'm not sure if this is actually footage from Ghostbusters: Afterlife or if it was shot for marketing purposes, but it's fun either way.

Scripted by Jason Reitman and Gil Kenan, Ghostbusters: Afterlife stars Mckenna Grace, Finn Wolfhard, and Carrie Coon as a family

with single mom Callie and her two kids, Trevor and Phoebe, who move into a beaten-down farmhouse in Oklahoma only to discover that there’s something strange in the neighborhood. Unexplained quakes shake the town. There’s an old mine nearby that bears the name of Ivo Shandor, who built the Manhattan high-rise in the 1984 film that channeled the forces of evil. Paul Rudd costars as a local teacher who’s been documenting the unexplained phenomena, befriending Callie and her kids, and helping make the connection between the current weirdness and the events of three decades before.

Also in the cast are Bokeem Woodbine, Tracy Letts, Celeste O'Connor, Logan Kim, and Oliver Cooper.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife is scheduled to reach theatres on November 11.
