Variety reports today that Good News Holdings, a Christian media company, will jump into the horror fray with DUDLEYTOWN. Now while the idea of Christian horror may seem like the answer to the question of how could horror become more toothless, and the title DUDLEYTOWN doesn’t exactly inspire chills, let’s take a look at what it’s about:
Flick will be based on a series of teen-oriented novels Bodie Ingelvie is writing about the reputedly haunted town of Dudleytown, Conn [which was] deserted for years following a series of disappearances and murders. 1,000 acres of the town were bought by a private group and “no trespassing” signs line the now-wooded area that was reportedly an inspiration for “The Blair Witch Project.”
So no actual plot details, but the town itself sounds pretty damn cool. In fact, you can click here to read up more on the madness behind that tiny little hamlet. Still not sure how horror ties in with a company that has a mission to spread Christian values, but that doesn’t mean the project can’t be any good. It just strikes me as unlikely.
