Godzilla gets own Pluto TV channel next month

The bulk of the Godzilla franchise will be headed to Pluto, as the service will offer a 24-hour channel beginning July 1st.

Godzilla Pluto

Take cover because the monster of mass destruction, Godzilla, is coming to Pluto TV next month, with a channel devoted to the kaiju legend — and a few other iconic monsters. Hey, come to think of it, Godzilla Goes to Pluto would be a great movie!

In an official statement, Pluto hyped their Godzilla channel with the following: “The King of the Monsters has made landfall on Pluto TV! Emerging in 1954, Godzilla has become a global icon and symbol that has transcended time and pop culture. After debuting as a terror that descended upon Tokyo, Godzilla has fought numerous foes and gained new allies over several distinct eras. While each film stands alone in its own moment in time, the evolution of Godzilla followed advancements and film and technology along with cultural trends, yet always staying rooted in the origins from 1954. Today, fans can celebrate one of the world’s most renowned entertainment characters with Godzilla channel collection and experience their favorite movie moments from the never-ending clash between kaiju and humankind.”

The Godzilla Pluto TV channel is enticing enough as it is, but to add to the thrills, it will also be the only place you can stream the Heisei era films, which ran from 1984-1995. It will also host Godzilla: The Series, the animated program which ran from 1998-2000.

Here is the official list of titles coming to Pluto’s Godzilla channel on July 1st, ranging from the

Now a shade under 70 years after the big screen debut of the iconic character, Godzilla has been recognized as the “longest continuously running franchise.” In 1996, Godzilla won the MTV Movie Award for Lifetime Achievement…despite some catastrophic entries in his filmography.
