Godzilla vs. Kong novelization gives some new insight on upcoming film

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

I'm still super excited for the upcoming Godzilla vs. Kong, even if I was slightly lukewarm on the first three films in Warner Bros. current "MonsterVerse" (Godzilla 2014 was a bit too dour, Godzilla: King of the Monsters was a bit too campy, and Kong: Skull Island – while the best of the current three – was still a bit too uneven, tonally). However, even if Godzilla vs. Kong totally sucks, I think that at least the fight scenes will rule, which were the highlights of the other films in the series as well. Here's hoping they at least don't screw that up.

Anyway, there's an official novelization of the film coming out soon, and its synopsis has shed a bit more light on the film, namely that the fight will apparently be an "all out war" and that "[h]umanity [will] fight for its future" due to the monsters' versus-ing. While this isn't super surprising, it does seem that if there is a third act team up (like most "versus" films with two face characters devolve into), it's going to be pretty destructive up until then, which is promising.

Here's the full synopsis:

Humanity fights for its future as Godzilla and Kong embark on a path of destruction that will see the two most powerful forces of nature on the planet collide in an all-out war!

Meanwhile, Godzilla vs. Kong – directed by Adam Wingard (You're Next) – will reportedly still hit theaters and HBO Max simultaneously May 21st, 2021…but we'll keep you updated if anything changes!

So what do you guys think? You excited for the upcoming brawl? If so, who do you think will win? Either way, sound off below!
