Godzilla vs Kong synopsis teases a “spectacular battle” as production begins

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Whatever happens to Godzilla during the course of events during GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS, it will no doubt be a playground brawl compared to what he has waiting for him in GODZILLA VS. KONG. The project has been gestating since the new movie in 2014, and now, finally, the movie has kicked off production and with the start comes the first synopsis for the city-destroying monster mash to end all monster mashes.

Adam Wingard (YOU’RE NEXT) is directing the movie with an all-star cast that includes Alexander Skarsgård, Rebecca Hall, Millie Bobby Brown, Eiza González, Brian Tyree Henry, Shun Oguri, Jessica Henwick, Julian Dennison, Kyle Chandler, and Demián Bichir, with Terry Rossio (PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN) behind the script. Legendary put out the first plot synopsis, which teases a “spectacular battle for the ages.”

In a time when monsters walk the Earth, humanity’s fight for its future sets Godzilla and Kong on a collision course that will see the two most powerful forces of nature on the planet collide in a spectacular battle for the ages. As Monarch embarks on a perilous mission into uncharted terrain and unearths clues to the Titans’ origins, a human conspiracy threatens to wipe the creatures, both good and bad, from the face of the earth forever.

This comes after the post from Legendary Pictures yesterday announcing that production has begun on GODZILLA VS. KONG. The picture shows a still of Godzilla looking mighty in his 2014 movie, which in effect is a massive burn towards Kong. Oh, it’s on for sure.

GODZILLA VS. KONG hits theaters May 22, 2020.
