Gosling directs Army

JoBloJoBlo

With “Academy Award Nominee” (not likely winner as this seems to be Forest Whitaker’s year to take home the golden naked guy) permanently tagged to his name, Ryan Gosling is now setting his sights on directing. He’ll be helming a drama titled THE LORD’S RESISTANCE ARMY that centers on child soldiers in Africa. The film is apparently a passion project of Gosling’s, so much so that he’s raised all the financing himself and has personally chosen nonprofessional actors and actual child soldiers whom he wants to use to tell the story. He’s seemingly foregoing professional child actors in order to give the film a more realistic feel and likely because professional child actors are giant pains in the ass. He’s recently wrapped production on the thriller FRACTURE and the dark comedy LARS AND THE REAL GIRL and plans to direct ARMY before he jumps into any other acting-only gigs.
