Gotham Knights pilot casts Fallon Smythe and Tyler DiChiara as the Row siblings

Hot on the heels of an outstanding theatrical debut for Matt Reeves’ The Batman, the Gotham Knights pilot at the CW has cast Fallon Smythe and Tyler DiChiara as series regulars. The Gotham Knights series will take place in the wake of Bruce Wayne’s murder, as his rebellious adopted son forges an unlikely alliance with the children of Batman’s enemies once they are all framed for killing the Caped Crusader. And as the city’s most wanted criminals, this renegade band of misfits must fight to clear their names. But in a Gotham with no Dark Knight to protect it, the city descends into the most dangerous it’s ever been. However, hope comes from the most unexpected of places as this team of mismatched fugitives will become its next generation of saviors known as the Gotham Knights.

Smythe will play Harper Row. Described as streetwise, acerbic, and often underestimated, the blue-haired bisexual is a gifted engineer who can fix anything. But what Harper wants most of all is to repair the broken lives of her and her brother, Cullen, the only person she trusts.

DiChiara stars as Cullen Row. After years of hiding his true self from an abusive parent, the transgender teen is tired of being polite and agreeable. Clever and adept at reading human nature, Cullen is ready to fight his own battles.

Natalie Abrams, Chad Fiveash, and James Stoteraux will pen the Gotham Knights series, with Fiveash and Stoteraux also serving as executive producers alongside Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, and David Madden, with Abrams co-executive producing. Despite the trio’s past with Batwoman, the Gotham Knights series isn’t a spinoff of that show, nor is it related to the Gotham Knights video game.

Smythe made her on-screen debut courtesy of the web series S.H.R.I.E.K, before going on to star as Erin in the Disney Channel series I Didn’t Do It. She also appeared in the Nickelodeon mini-series Lost in the West as well as the Freeform series Grown-ish.

As for DiChiara, he arrived on the scene by playing Kai, a trans man, in the indie feature Relish. He also played Jordan in The Virgin of Highland Park from director Sonia Sebastián. Dichiara hopes to become a strong voice for trans and LGBTQ youth as he continues his Hollywood journey.

The plot for Gotham Knights has me feeling curious about this new series. While I wish that it was an HBO Max endeavor instead of a CW joint, I’ll take all the Batman-adjacent projects and strives toward representation as I can get. Let’s do this!

Are you ready to check out that Gotham Knights pilot?
