Director Martin Wilson’s shark thriller Great White was given a theatrical, VOD, and Digital release back in July, and now the Shudder service has picked up the exclusive rights to stream the film in the US and the UK. Great White will be available to watch through Shudder in those territories as of November 11th.

Wilson made his feature directorial debut on Great White, working from a screenplay by Michael Boughen that was inspired by true events. The goal with this was to “tap into our most primal fear of the deep, and deliver the stuff of nightmares in the form of the ocean’s most dangerous apex predator”. Here’s the synopsis:

A blissful tourist trip turns into a nightmare when five seaplane passengers are stranded miles from shore. In a desperate bid for survival, the group tries to make it to land before they either run out of supplies or are taken by a menacing terror lurking just beneath the surface.

The film stars Katrina Bowden (30 Rock), Aaron Jakubenko (The Shannara Chronicles), Kimie Tsukakoshi (The Bureau of Magical Things), Tim Kano (Neighbours), and Te Kohe Tuhaka (Love and Monsters).

At the time of its initial release, our reviewer The Iceman gave Great White a 6/10 “average” review that you can read at THIS LINK. A 6 is probably what I would give the film, too. It’s fine, a decent way to spend 91 minutes and better than a lot of the shark thrillers out there, but it’s nothing special.

The film was produced by Neal Kingston, Michael Robertson, and Pam Collis through their production banner Thrills & Spills. RLJE Films’ Mark Ward and Jess De Leo also earned producing credits.
