Go behind the scenes with a look at the Gerard Butler disaster flick, Greenland. The film was originally set to hit screens in September but the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic caused plans to change and now the movie is headed for a PVOD release on December 18, 2020.

The behind-the-scenes snippet, titled "Humanity", offers up a look at the human element of the disaster story with Butler and some of the cast and crew detailing the scope of the film while also pointing out that the movie is still very much about the characters and their reaction to the disaster that's going on around them. The disaster in question involves a family fighting for survival as a planet-killing comet races towards Earth. John Garrity (Gerard Butler), his estranged wife Allison (Morena Baccarin), and young son Nathan make a perilous journey to their only hope for sanctuary. Amid terrifying news accounts of cities around the world being leveled by the comet’s fragments, the Garrity’s experience the best and worst in humanity. As the countdown to the global apocalypse approaches zero, their incredible trek culminates in a desperate and last-minute flight to a possible safe haven. The film also stars David Denman, Hope Davis, Roger Dale Floyd, Andrew Bachelor, Merrin Dungey, Holt McCallany, and Scott Glenn.

Directed by Ric Roman Waugh, Greenland has actually already had a solid run in overseas markets, grossing $43.1 million to date on a reported $35 million budget. Back in October, it was announced that STX will control the PVOD window on the film, and additionally, HBO threw out a staggering $20-$30 million for Greenland's pay-TV and streaming in the U.S. where the movie will debut on PVOD and on the pay-cable TV network on December 18, 2020, and then stream on HBO Max in early 2021.
