Akedo Footwear to release Gremlins sneakers in December

Director Joe Dante‘s 1984 classic Gremlins (watch it HERE) is a holiday season favorite for a lot of fans, so Akedo Footwear and Warner Bros. have chosen the perfect time to release limited edition high-top sneakers that feature the Gremlins poster artwork: these shoes will be available for purchase at Zavvi.com as of December 3rd. According to our friends over at Bloody Disgusting, they’ll be going for the price of $59.99.

Akedo Footwear provided the following information:

Fans of the 1984 Gremlins movie can get their hands on limited-edition high-top sneakers, thanks to a partnership between Akedo footwear and Warner Bros. Launching exclusively in the US, the wearable movie memorabilia is covered in nostalgia, thanks to the use of iconic movie artwork and clever design.

With the contrast between the dark material and the ominous appearance of Stripe, these sneakers are a real must-have for any fans of the comedy horror. But don’t worry… you can get these wet, you can expose them to light and you most definitely can wear them after midnight.”

Images of the sneakers from multiple angles can be seen below.

Scripted by Chris Columbus, the original Gremlins told the following story:

A gadget salesman looking for a special gift for his son finds one at a store in Chinatown. The shopkeeper is reluctant to sell him the `Mogwai’ but sells it to him with the warning to never expose him to bright light, water, or to feed him after midnight. All of this happens and the result is a gang of gremlins that decide to tear up the town on Christmas Eve.

Zach Galligan, Phoebe Cates, Hoyt Axton, Dick Miller, Judge Reinhold, and Corey Feldman star.

Gremlins was produced by Michael Finnell, with Kathleen Kennedy, Frank Marshall, and Steven Spielberg executive producing.
