Guillermo del Toro to create opening for Simpsons Treehouse of Horror special

THE SIMPSONS have been on TV for over thirty years, and I still love it. It may not be as strong as it once was but I know that it’s good for a laugh. I grew up thinking that Bart and Lisa were two of the coolest kids ever. I had a Bart sweatshirt and a book called “Bart Simpson’s Guide to Life” which I still own. Sadly, the sweatshirt was lost long ago. I wanted Bart’s carefree, rebel attitude which might have made me a pain in the ass as a child.

All that said, I’m getting to a point. The TREEHOUSE OF HORROR episodes are a highlight for Halloween. I think a couple of them cause a good scare in me on occasion. This year the opening of the special will receive some help from a man who knows a little about horror himself, Guillermo Del Toro. It is said that he will be changing the usual opening to showcase villains, monsters, and classic characters from horror films of the past several decades.

For those wondering what tales will be told during TREEHOUSE OF HORROR XXIV, I’ve got a rundown for you after the pic of Bart, Lisa, and Maggie just in case you don’t want it spoiled…

“The Halloween special will tell three different stories. The first sees Homer Simpson traveling around Springfield wreaking havoc in a rhyming take on a popular children’s story. In the second tale, “Dead and Shoulders,” Bart is beheaded during a kite accident, his head is attached to Lisa’s body, and they are forced to live together as one person. The third, “Freaks No Geeks,” follows Mr. Burns’ traveling circus The Burnsum and Bailey Circus, which stops in Springfieldland in the ’30s. Things go wrong when Moe starts to make advances toward trapeze artist Marge.”

THE SIMPSONS: TREEHOUSE OF HORROR XXIV will air on October 6, 2013.
