Guns Akimbo, starring Radcliffe and Weaving, gets February release

DEATHGASM director Jason Lei Howden's new film GUNS AKIMBO has been one of my most highly anticipated releases of 2020 for a while, even though we didn't know exactly when the film would be making its way out into the world. That information is now out there, and thankfully the release of GUNS AKIMBO is less than two months away.

Saban Films has announced that they will be releasing the film into select theatres on February 28th.

I'm hyped to see this movie not just because I enjoyed DEATHGASM or the fact that it's about Daniel Radcliffe unwillingly getting guns surgically attached to his hands, but also because it co-stars Samara Weaving. I'm a big fan of Weaving after watching her awesome her way through THE BABYSITTER, MAYHEM, READY OR NOT, and episodes of Ash vs. Evil Dead, and this sounds like exactly the sort of movie I want to see her in.

GUNS AKIMBO has the following synopsis:

Miles’ (Daniel Radcliffe) nerdy existence as a video game developer takes a dramatic turn when he inadvertently gets caught up as the next contestant with SKIZM, an underground gang live-streaming real-life death matches.  While Miles excels at running away from everything, that won’t help him outlast Nix (Samara Weaving), a killer at the top of her game.

Our own Chris Bumbray got to see GUNS AKIMBO at its TIFF premiere several months ago, and in his 7/10 review he said "Weaving goes all-out in a gonzo performance, sporting shaved (or bleached) eyebrows and metal-capped teeth. Her Nix is initially a maniacal villain, constantly snorting cocaine off her pistols and sporting a body count in the hundreds…" Yes, I need to see that as soon as possible.

Radcliffe and Weaving are joined in the cast by Natasha Liu Bordizzo, Ned Dennehy, and Rhys Darby.

GUNS AKIMBO was produced by Joe Neurauter, Felipe Marino, and Tom Hern.
