What do you get when you cross OLDBOY with GRINDHOUSE? Probably something along the lines of AMERICAN MUSCLE. This violent epic of revenge comes to us from a screenplay written by JoBlo.com’s very own John Fallon. The trailer and poster have now premiered and they are a sight to behold in their full NSFW glory.
AMERICAN MUSCLE is an independent feature but doesn’t look cheap at all. In fact, the special effects look pretty damn good as heads explode in a flurry of blood and bullets. What really grabbed me was the great scene at the end of the trailer that has now added the phrase “suck the nub” to my permanent vocabulary.
Starring genre vets Nick Principe, Robin Sydney, Todd Farmer, John Fallon, Trent Haaga and Malice McMunn and set against the desolate landscape of California’s Yucca Valley, the film follows a recently paroled convict hell bent on revenge against those whom he holds responsible for his incarceration…including his own brother.
There is a lot to take in this packed trailer and all of it makes me thankful movies like this exist. If GRINDHOUSE taught us anything it is that there will always be a desire to see well-made exploitation cinema. While AMERICAN MUSCLE will premiere at the upcoming American Film Market next month, stay tuned for when you can see the movie near you.
