Gyllenhaal, Ferguson, and Reynolds stare at you from the Life poster

Next week, Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence are going to be having some trouble in outer space when director Morten Tyldum's film PASSENGERS is released on December 21st. Three months later, Jake Gyllenhaal, Rebecca Ferguson, and Ryan Reynolds are going to have some outer space troubles of their own in director Daniel Espinosa's sci-fi thriller LIFE, which is scheduled to be released on March 24, 2017.

Why mention the release of PASSENGERS when discussing LIFE? The new poster for LIFE kinds of makes it impossible not to, because the posters for the films are pretty much the same (you can see the PASSENGERS poster at this link) – extreme close-ups of the lead actors' faces as they stare at whoever might take a look at the image. Sure, there are three actors on the LIFE poster vs. two on the PASSENGERS poster, the LIFE stars are wearing space suits, and there are some other design differences, but still, these posters are shockingly similar for two movies coming out just three months apart.

Scripted by Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese, the writers of ZOMBIELAND and DEADPOOL, LIFE tells a story about

the crew of the International Space Station, who are tasked with studying a sample from Mars that may be the first proof of extraterrestrial life. And that life proves more intelligent than ever expected.

Olga Dykhovichnaya, Ariyon Bakare, and Hiroyuki Sanada co-star.
