American Heist and The Bachelor executive producer JoJo Ryder is set to make his narrative feature directorial debut with a horror thriller called The Lesson, and Deadline reports that Tiffany Haddish (Bad Boys: Ride Or Die) and Rosario Dawson (Death Proof) have signed on to star in the film.
Synopsis
Ryder will be directing The Lesson from his own screenplay. The story centers on a devoted teacher whose death sets off a chain of disturbing events that begin to haunt his former students. As unsettling incidents escalate, long-buried secrets and unresolved guilt resurface, forcing the group to confront a past they believed was safely behind them.
Filming is expected to take place in Los Angeles later this year. Shawn Kowlessar, Jeff Williams, Lindsay Butler, and Ryder Media serve as executive producers on the project.

Haddish provided the following statement: “What drew me to The Lesson was how layered it is. It’s not just horror — it’s about choices, consequences, and the things we think we can walk away from. Audiences are in for something unexpected.”
Dawson added, “I’m excited about the project, looking forward to be working with Tiffany and JoJo.“
Ryder had this to say about his first feature: “I’m thrilled to have Tiffany and Rosario join The Lesson. They bring intensity, range, and a fearless presence that elevates every scene. This story demands emotional depth as much as suspense, and they deliver both.“
Ryder’s previous credits as executive producer also include Mack & Rita, A Little White Lie, and Talks With Mama Tina. Haddish got her start in the entertainment industry by doing stand-up comedy. She has more than 90 acting credits to her name, including Keanu, The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, Girls Trip, Bad Trip, Like a Boss, The Kitchen, Night School, and a lot of vocal performances. Dawson has over 130 acting credits, including Ahsoka, Netflix’s Marvel shows, Sin City, Clerks II, Eagle Eye, Rent, Kids, and 25th Hour. Haddish and Dawson were both in the 2023 film Haunted Mansion.
