Halle Berry is out to save her son in the Kidnap trailer

Kidnap Luis Prieto Halle Berry

Apparently Halle Berry enjoyed making director Brad Anderson's 2013 thriller THE CALL just as much as I enjoyed watching it, because the actress has taken the lead in a project that looks quite similar to it. This one is called KIDNAP and was directed by Luis Prieto, whose previous credits include the 2012 remake of Nicolas Winding Refn's PUSHER and a couple episodes of Syfy's Z Nation.

Scripted by Knate Gwaltney and described as "a heart-stopping thriller", KIDNAP has a very short and simple plot description:

A mother stops at nothing to recover her kidnapped son.

The trailer for the movie has been released online, and if you liked THE CALL it definitely looks like this one will be worth checking out as well. If Berry were playing the same character, this would be the sort of sequel that appears to stick too close to its predecessor, but since it's not actually connected at all that's not an issue.

Relativity Media will be releasing KIDNAP into theatres on December 2, 2016.
