Halle Berry in a bikini and a shark fin is all one could really hope for in a DARK TIDE poster; the John Stockwell-directed underwater thriller is coming our way next month and I suppose this one-sheet will be the first and last. I wish I understood why it’s so photoshopped-looking; with Halle, you really don’t need to do much airbrushing, do you? (I know, it’s the nature of the biz and nothing will change that.)
Kate (Berry) is a shark expert whose business has been failing since a shark attack killed a fellow diver under her command. Once dubbed “the shark whisperer,” Kate is haunted by the memory of the attack and unable to get back into the water. With bills piling up and the bank about to foreclose on Kate’s boat, Kate’s old flame Jeff (Martinez) presents her with a lucrative opportunity: lead a thrill-seeking millionaire businessman on a dangerous shark dive…outside the cage. Battling her self-doubts and fear, Kate accepts the proposal — and sets a course for the world’s deadliest feeding ground: Shark Alley.
DARK TIDE has been sitting around for a little while, so big things aren’t expected from this one; it’s receiving the VOD treatment on MARCH 8th before a limited theatrical release starting on MARCH 30th.
