Halloween 6 Producer’s Cut coming to Blu-ray from Lionsgate in September

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

This is a bit of news that will cause some HALLOWEEN fans to be elated, while it might enrage others.

Last year, Anchor Bay and Scream Factory teamed up to release the "HALLOWEEN: The Complete Collection" Blu-ray box set, which held all ten movies in the franchise, in a ten disc edition and a fifteen disc Deluxe edition. Of all the new special features in the set, the most notable thing about the Deluxe edition was that it held the first official release of the HALLOWEEN: THE CURSE OF MICHAEL MYERS Producer's Cut.

The Producer's Cut was the original version of the 1995 film, before it was drastically changed through merciless editing and substantial reshoots. For almost twenty years, the much sought after Producer's Cut was only available on the bootleg market, its quality reduced over generation after generation of dubs. And now here it was in a studio-sanctioned release, in Blu-ray quality. But it was only available in the Deluxe box set. Even if the Producer's Cut was the only disc you were interested in, you'd have to get the whole collection to obtain it.

If you're a fan who only wanted the P-Cut but still bought the Deluxe set, you have my sympathies. If you held out in hopes of a solo release, you're in luck.

Lionsgate has acquired the rights to put the unrated Producer's Cut of HALLOWEEN: THE CURSE OF MICHAEL MYERS out on Blu-ray by itself, and have scheduled it for release on September 15, 2015.

It's not clear if the bonus features from the Anchor Bay/Scream Factory disc will be ported over to this one. I wouldn't rely on that happening, but this is an official HD release of the H6 P-Cut, and you can order it here for just $9.99.
