Halloween alums Curtis and Chappelle team for The Pages

The political thriller THE PAGES may not be a film we’ll cover much here on Arrow in the Head, as right now it’s not clear if it will be delivering our style of thrills. However, it’s worth mentioning at least once because of the pairing of director and star, since they both have a history with the HALLOWEEN franchise.

The star is beloved scream queen Jamie Lee Curtis, who first shrieked her way into the hearts of horror fans with her performance as final girl Laurie Strode in the 1978 classic HALLOWEEN. Curtis would return for a few HALLOWEEN sequels over the years, but she wasn’t involved with the one helmed by the director of THE PAGES.

The director is Joe Chappelle, who brought the world the infamous, and famously troubled, HALLOWEEN: THE CURSE OF MICHAEL MYERS. CURSE is one of the least popular entries in the franchise, with only a few ranking below it in IMDb ratings. Ranked as the worst is another Curtis was in, HALLOWEEN: RESURRECTION.

Curtis and Chappelle have both worked with slasher icon Michael Myers, to varying degrees of success, and now they’re teaming up for THE PAGES, “a female-driven story of obsession, betrayal and regret.” Chappelle will be directing from a script he wrote himself, his story centering on

Elizabeth “Libby” Lamm, a former top security advisor who is threatened by associates from her dark past including a steely politician with an unwavering knack for achieving her goals.

Curtis will be playing that steely politician, with Tika Sumpter signed on to star as Libby. They are joined in the cast by Ben Tavassoli and Deanna Dunagan.

THE PAGES will be Chappelle’s first feature film in fifteen years. He has spent the last decade and a half working in television, directing episodes of The Wire, CSI: Miami, Fringe, and Chicago Fire, among others.

It will be interesting to see how a political thriller from the director of HALLOWEEN: THE CURSE OF MICHAEL MYERS and the star of HALLOWEEN, HALLOWEEN II, HALLOWEEN H20, and HALLOWEEN: RESURRECTION will turn out.
