A lot of moments that didn’t make it into the theatrical cut of director David Gordon Green’s Halloween Ends (read our review HERE, pick up a copy HERE) were used to promote the film, with one of the most prominent examples being images that showed an extended version of the attack on the character Joan, Corey’s mom, who was played by Joanne Baron. Now that Halloween Ends is available on both digital and physical media, we decided to share the extended scene clip that shows the full attack on Joan.

At least this scene made it into the special features. The extended cut of the death of Susan the radio receptionist (played by Diana Prince, a.k.a. Darcy the Mail Girl from the Shudder series The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs) is nowhere to be found.

Green, who was also at the helm of Halloween 2018 and Halloween Kills, directed Halloween Ends from a screenplay he wrote with Danny McBride, Paul Brad Logan, and Chris Bernier. The film has the following synopsis:

Four years after the events of last year’s Halloween Kills, Laurie is living with her granddaughter Allyson and is finishing writing her memoir. Michael Myers hasn’t been seen since. Laurie, after allowing the specter of Michael to determine and drive her reality for decades, has decided to liberate herself from fear and rage and embrace life. But when a young man, Corey Cunningham, is accused of killing a boy he was babysitting, it ignites a cascade of violence and terror that will force Laurie to finally confront the evil she can’t control, once and for all.

Halloween Ends stars Jamie Lee Curtis, Andi Matichak, Rohan Campbell, Kyle Richards, and Will Patton, with James Jude Courtney as Michael Myers. Nick Castle, who was the primary Michael Myers performer in the original Halloween, makes a quick cameo.

Do you think the extended version of Joan’s death scene should have made it into the theatrical cut of Halloween Ends? I think the audience deserved the chance to see her get more of a comeuppance for the way she acted toward her son. Share your thoughts on this one by leaving a comment below.
