Halloween Ends: What Did You Think?

Last Updated on October 20, 2022

Laurie Strode’s last stand has arrived. The third and final film in David Gordon Green’s Halloween trilogy is now playing in theaters, as well as streaming on Peacock, and it’s safe to say that the sequel has already received a mixed reaction among fans. Halloween Ends took in $5.4 million in Thursday night preview screenings and is looking at a $43 million opening.

Four years after the events of Halloween Kills, the new movie finds Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) living with her granddaughter Allyson (Andi Matichak) and finishing writing her memoir. Michael Myers hasn’t been seen since. Laurie, after allowing the specter of Michael to determine and drive her reality for decades, has decided to liberate herself from fear and rage and embrace life. But when a young man, Corey Cunningham (Rohan Campbell), is accused of killing a boy he was babysitting, it ignites a cascade of violence and terror that will force Laurie to confront the evil she can’t control once and for all. Halloween Ends also features Will Patton as Officer Frank Hawkins, Kyle Richards as Lindsey Wallace, and James Jude Courtney as The Shape.

Our own JimmyO enjoyed the movie but admitted that it will be divisive among many. “The third film in Green’s trilogy is doubtful to earn massive critical praise – really not shocking for a horror franchise like this. What it is, however, is a unique and unsettling way to explore a familiar story,” Jimmy wrote in his review. “Much like many recent, long-awaited sequels, Ends manages to explore the original film in a mostly engaging way. While it may not be perfect, it’s an unexpected take, and one still knocking about in my noggin.” You can check out the rest of Jimmy’s review right here.

Halloween Ends is currently sitting at 44% on Rotten Tomatoes, which places it ahead of Halloween Kills (39%) but well behind Halloween (79%). Let us know what you thought of Halloween Ends in the comments below!
