Has Emilia Clarke’s role in the Han Solo film been revealed?

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

While participating in an interview with Variety, Michael K. Williams, who recently announced that his character has been omitted from the UNTITLED HAN SOLO STAR WARS ANTHOLOGY FILM, might have revealed who actress Emilia Clarke will be playing for the forthcoming Star Wars spinoff.

In addition to talking about his family, the methodology of his role selection process, and Star Wars experience, Williams cooly stated that his cut HAN SOLO character shares “a link between Han Solo and Emilia’s character, Kira.” Kira, you say? Quick, to Wookiepedia! According to this tome of a website I'm reading, there is a character featured in the Star Wars saga named Kira Carsen.

She's a human female Jedi Knight who fell in with the Jedi Order during the Cold War and Galactic War. As a Child of the Sith Emperor, Kira turned her back on Korriban at an early age. Upon arriving in Nar Shaddaa, Kira became Master Bela Kiwiiks of the Jedi Orders Padawan trainee. Thankful to have made new friends and been given a new purpose, Kira has kept her troubling past with the Sith Empire a secret.

Of course, this is just one possibility concerning who Emilia's "Kira" character could turn out to be when the HAN SOLO spinoff launches later next year. It's entirely possible that she will be presented as a freshly-minted character in the Star Wars universe as well. It's also worth noting that in The Art of the Force Awakens – a hard cover collection of art and materials from the film – a piece of concept art revealed that Rey was at one time referred to as 'Kira'. It's conceivable that the name is a favorite of the Star Wars crew and is being re-purposed for the new film.

With all of that being said, MakingStarWars ran an article stating that the spelling of the name in the Han Solo feature is not "Kira" but rather "Kura" according to sources at Pinewood Studios. So, does this blow my Kira Carsen theory to more pieces than what was left of the Death Star after it exploded? Perhaps. But hey, with nothing officially confirmed who's to say?

Who do you think Emilia Clarke will turn out to be in the film? Do you think HAN SOLO: A STAR WARS story is really the title of the spinoff? Let us know what's going through your brain in the comments section below.

The HAN SOLO spinoff will arrive in May of 2018.
