According to Bloody Disgusting, Fede Alvarez’s remake of THE EVIL DEAD has nabbed its first actor: Lily Collins. The site reports that Collins will portray the role of “Mia”. BD claims that this role is essentially the new “Ash”, although what exactly that means is unclear. (I’m guessing she’s the “final girl”.)

Collins is an up-and-comer whom you might have seen in the craptastic adaptation of PRIEST last year. She also played Taylor Lautner’s girlfriend in ABDUCTION, but she’ll soon be on display in her biggest feature yet as Snow White in Tarsem’s MIRROR, MIRROR (pictured right), which is due out this spring.

In THE EVIL DEAD, five twenty-something friends become holed up in a remote cabin where they discover a Book Of The Dead and unwittingly summon up dormant demons living in the nearby woods, which possess the youngsters in succession until only one is left intact to fight for survival.

Shooting on the film will begin this year in New Zealand. Sony Pictures’ THE EVIL DEAD will be released on APRIL 12, 2013.
