Screen Daily has just announced that director Screen Media Films and director Dean Taylor have struck a deal to release Taylor’s horror film DEAD TONE. TONE stars Rutger Hauer (pictured above, with Taylor), Jud Tylor, Antwon Tanner and Brian Hooks. Rutger Hauer, people!

Dead Tone is about college students whose prank phone calls target the wrong person, a madman who turns on them.

Not sure if Hauer is playing the madman, but it’s probably a good bet. If that’s the case, consider me down for this one.

Taylor’s credits include the Flava Flav-led NITE TALES (I shit you not; he plays the film’s “host”), and the long awaited CHAIN LETTER, starring Nikki Reed (pictured below), Keith David, and Brad Dourif. That one’s been in the can for well over a year now, struggling to get a solid distribution deal.

DEAD TONE won’t have such problems, however, as it’s set to be released – in limited fashion – on SEPTEMBER 3rd.
