I totally forgot THE HAUNTING IN CONNECTICUT was coming out until I caught a glimpse at the trailer when I went and saw the craptacular THE SPIRIT a coupld of weeks ago. The trailer was alight, but the few others in the theater seemed to dig it, even if it looked like a bunch of other haunting movies we’ve seen lately.
And like other haunting movies before it (THE HAUNTING OF MOLLY HARTLEY, AN AMERICAN HAUNTING, etc.), CONNECTICUT is going for the weak-sauce PG-13 rating. That’s right, it’s official: THE HAUNTING IN CONNECTICUT will be rated PG-13 for some intense sequences of terror and disturbing images.
Of course, I’m not surprised that it went the PG-13 way of life, but I am disappointed. If, by some miracle, they just announced it was rated R… I might have made it one of my must-see’s of the year, because at least it had some balls to push an R rating. But that’s not the case; therefore, I’m mildly bored with this movie already, and that PG-13 rating doesn’t help.
