Just a small update here, but an update is an update is an update.
During one of Reddit’s “Ask Me Anything” sessions, gleefully insane director Brian Taylor (GHOST RIDER: SPIRIT OF VENGEANCE) was asked about the possibility of a CRANK 3. Though Taylor has just been hired to develop and direct a TWISTED METAL movie by himself, presumably he would team up once more with his other half (Mark Neveldine) if and when CRANK 3 were to really happen. And so, here’s what he had to say on the subject (you can click here to read the rest of the session):
“[Crank’s poisoning] was a plot device designed to showcase the shit we do w/ cutting and camera movement but became a metaphor for our entire ADD approach to reality.
Try explaining to Amy Smart that she has to take stripper pole lessons and roll around in horse manure naked for the integrity of the film. Now that’s directing.
[Crank 3] will happen, prob 2013.
We were going to have Chelios track down Bin Laden [in Crank 3] but that got f*cked up…”
I’ve seen the first CRANK but not the sequel HIGH VOLTAGE, and I will definitely admit to enjoying what was possibly the most gonzo action movie I’ve ever witnessed. I’ll be curious to see where a third movie will take Chev Chelios, considering the wider scope Nevaldine and Taylor seem to have in mind for the sequel.
