It’s news we’ve been hearing around the campfire for some time, but today… today it’s officially official: French writer/director team Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo are remaking HELLRAISER for Dimension Films. God help us all.
I don’t mean that to knock the duo, who’s latest flick THE INSIDE is apparently ‘da bomb’, but more in a generally ‘why another freakin’ remake of a movie that stands alone and isn’t that old to begin with’ kind of way. What are we talking, 20 years? Maybe I’m getting old, but there’s no reason to remake something from only 20 years ago…
Clive Barker is producing the remake of the flick he directed, and Dimension couldn’t be happier – they’re hoping they make as much bank off this remake as they did with the HALLOWEEN remake. The bastards.
Over the weekend the duo had a few words to say about their take on the remake, which is looking to be way different than the original. Making just another sequel would be stupid, I guess, so slap the ‘remake’ title in there, and all of a sudden, you get class… right?
