Hell Ride poster!

There’s something about the bad ass biker movie that seems to really move people. Whether it’s because of the whole outlaw element, or because bikers (real bikers, not yuppies who go for joy rides on the weekends) are a lot like cowboys of the American west. Either way, biker movies are fun, and we just don’t see enough of them anymore (and NO, WILD HOGS doesn’t count as a biker movie).

Which is why HELL RIDE sounds like a flippin’ blast! Directed by Larry Bishop, and ‘presented by’ Quentin Tarantino, HELL RIDE is the homage to the spaghetti western and the biker gang movies of the 70s. And the kind folks at Dimension decided to drop us the first official poster for the film, and boy is it sweeeet!

Oozing with grindhouse love, it’s no wonder Tarantino’s name is in there – the poster rocks, and reminds me of a time when a poster really told a story all it’s own – not something just thrown together to put in theater lobbies. This is the kind of poster you’d hang up in your living room and consider art!

To get in the know, check out what HELL RIDE is all about:A raucous throwback to the days of the Sergio Leone spaghetti western, with a heaping helping of testosterone-fueled chopper action thrown into the mix, writer/director Larry Bishop takes on a third role as Pistolero, head honcho of the Victors, a group of badass bikers who are out to avenge the murder of one of their members at the hands of the 666ers, a rival gang whose actions live up to their hellish moniker. Along with his cohorts, the Gent (deviously portrayed by Michael Madsen) and the mysterious Comanche (Eric Balfour), Pistolero aims to take down the Deuce and Billy Wings, menacing leaders of the 666ers, but a mutiny looms on the horizon when his commitment to profit is questioned by a few of his fellow Victors. An even larger story unravels when previously unknown information about Comanche resurrects ghosts from Pistolero’s past.

No monsters or vampires to battle, but it does smell of some sweet FROM DUSK TILL DAWN action, plus it stars Michael f*cking Madsen, a guy who just oozes badassness (yup, it’s a word – I just made it up), not to mention Dennis Hopper (!), Vinnie Jones, and hottie Cassandra Hepburn (pictured below). Yes, the cast is amazing… let’s hope the film can live up to itself.

Enjoy the new poster, and keep your fingers crossed as it debut’s at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah tomorrow night (January 19th).
