HELLRAISER fans, prepare to be scared (and I don’t mean in the good “scary movie” kinda way). Dimension says they have the same hopes for their HELLRAISER remake that they had for the HALLOWEEN remake. AHHHHH!!!! Maybe in this movie, we’ll head back to Pinhead’s early life in a trailer park and later see him terrorizing people with a 6’8″, 300lb. frame. Looking to make HELLRAISER for the new millennium are French filmmakers Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo. You may not be that familiar with their work but they directed the French thriller INSIDE. To their credit, I’ve heard excellent things about INSIDE and hopefully these dudes can actually bring new, exciting things to Pinhead and the Cenobites (that would make an awesome heavy metal band name). Another reason to fear is Bob Weinstein’s use of the word reimagining. I hope that’s just them not wanting to say “remake,” but these reimaginings frighten and confuse me. Especially with movies that are so ingrained in pop culture. No word on when production on the film might begin but Maury and Bustillo need to get working on the script before anything.
