Not a huge piece of news, but newsworthy none the less. Bloody-Disgusting recently found out the release date for the HELLRAISER remake.
It’s slated to hit theaters September 5, 2008 for MGM/Dimension.
Now if you ask any genre fans, you’ll find there’s a split feeling on this remake. Actually, it’s probably mostly a negative feeling. I’ve expressed how the first HELLRAISER wasn’t my favorite one of the bunch, and how the idea of ‘re-imagining’ it excites me. I’m sure I’m one of the minority in that thought. Most fans are deadset against this one. I’m just banking on whether they get Doug Bradley or not, which is still up in the air supposedly. Regardless, I’m a big fan of the HELLRAISER franchise, even the direct-to-DVD sequels, so I’m looking forward to this one.
Not to mention the fact that Clive Barker is producing with Alexandre Bustillo and Julien Maury directing, the supposedly brilliant minds behind INSIDE. Now I’m yet to see it, but The Arrow sure dug it a lot, and he’s not the only one. So these guys must have some idea of what they’re doing.
I’m sure we’ll be hearing lots more on HELLRAISER before September 5, so stay tuned.
